COVID and SPORT and PHYSICAL ACTIVITY update

On the 29th of March quarantine restrictions will be lifted slightly in England. Wales, will have news of it’s changes on the 27th March (subject to Health Situation) Scotland will be based on the COVID level of your area and Northern Ireland will be looked at 1st April.

What we know so far:

  • In England, outdoor sports facilities will be allowed to reopen from 29 March, allowing for more options for outdoor exercise and recreation. Outdoor facilities such as tennis and basketball courts, golf courses, and swimming pools, can be used by people in line with the wider social contact limits (rule of 6 or two households).
  • Formally organised outdoor sports such as football matches or basketball and cricket matches – for adults and under 18s – can also restart and will not be subject to the gatherings limits, but should be compliant with guidance issued by national governing bodies.

12 April afterwards

  • The next phase will allow Indoor leisure facilities, including gyms and spas (but not saunas), to be open for individual use.
