DeaflympicsGB – Press Release

DeaflympicsGB are delighted to announce that Renee McGregor & Lewis Kind will be working with DeaflympicsGB athletes around nutrition & optimising performance in the run up to the Deaflympics in Samsun this summer. 

Renee McGregor is a Performance and Clinical Dietitan. With years of experience and expertise in sports nutrition, she advises athletes from amateur, professional and Olympic level. She has recently returned from the Paralympic games in Rio where she was working with and supporting Wheelchair Basketball squads and Wheelchair Fencing athletes and looks forward to being involved in the Tokyo cycle. She presently works with a number of the GB endurance, ultra running and 24 hour team athletes.
 
She has presented at conferences, including last years EA technical coaching day and the EA SWEN conference. She was asked to speak at The Cheltenham Literature festival, spoken on radio and podcasts, and written guest blogs and articles for national publications about her expertise.
 
She is the author of Training Food: Get the Fuel You Need to Achieve Your Goals ­ Before, During and After Exercise (Nourish, 2015), Fast Food, Food for Running.
 
Lewis Kind will be supporting Renee in her work with DeaflympicsGB. Lewis is currently studying at Loughborough University after graduating from Sheffield Hallam in sports nutrition. Lewis is also part of the MacNutrition mentor programme and will be able to provide athletes support in the run up to Samsun, Turkey. 
 
Christof Niklaus, Chef de Mission spoke of his delight of securing Renee & Lewis service for the build up to Samsun. “DeaflympicsGB are very lucky to have the addition of Renee and Lewis whose time and effort will go a long way towards improving the performances of our athletes in Samsun as well as provide a cost effective approach towards the fundraising efforts of our athletes and officials.”
 
With less than 125 days to go to Samsun Renee & Lewis will be straight down to work to support the DeaflympicsGB athletes, firstly with a key note speech at the upcoming Athletes Day in Loughborough.
