DeaflympicsGB are delighted to announce that the team that led them to their most successful Deaflympics in the past twelve years will continue to be headed up by Christof Niklaus as Chef de Mission (pictured above holding GB flag).
Christof Niklaus has a wealth of experience in deaf sports from previous ICSD (International Committee of Sports for the Deaf) Sports Manager & ICSD Football Technical Director to leading DeaflympicsGB at the 2017 Samsun Deaflympics.
Speaking about his role, Chef de Mission, Christof Niklaus said:
“I’m thrilled to continue as CdM for 2021. With a fantastic core team and DeaflympicsGB team, I am now looking to use 2017 as a benchmark for greater success in 2021. The challenge is for us as a DeaflympicsGB team to work harder, stick together and learn from 2017 to make 2021 an even greater success.”
UKDS Performance Committee Chair, Danny Lee is delighted that Christof Niklaus has accepted the position of Chef de Mission for the 2021 Deaflympics. He said:
“Christof brings a wealth of knowledge in major competition team management and proved at the Samsun Deaflympics that even in challenging situations he can steer a successful team that can inspire a nation. 2021 will allow DeaflympicsGB to build on the fantastic success of 2017. The Performance Committee will support Christof in his mission for more sports, more athletes & more medals at the 2021 Deaflympics.”
The DeaflympicsGB team are wasting no time in starting their preparations for 2021, with many of them already back in training.
ICSD are yet to announce the 2021 Summer Deaflympics host city.
