Disputed Deaflympics qualification UEFA statement

The European Deaf Sport Organisation (EDSO) recently confirmed Greece and Russia will qualify for the 2022 Deaflympics in Brazil, for men’s deaf football.  This occurred despite Russia being unable to fulfil their fixture with GB in October, due to visa issues. GB Deaf Football (GBDF), The Football Association (FA) and UK Deaf Sport (UKDS) have exhausted all avenues to appeal against this decision, including involving the UEFA for guidance.

As the UK’s Governing Body for Deaf Sport and a member of both EDSO and ICSD, UKDS expresses dismay at EDSO’s handling of the Deaflympic qualifying matches.

Meanwhile we wish Greece and Russia all the best for 2022 Deaflympics.
