At a recent reception held for those involved in the 2009 Deaflympics, attended by Mayor of London Boris Johnson, Clarion were invited to propose plans for involvement and sponsorship of the 2013 games to the athletes and UK Deaf Sport trustees.
Clarion is led by Sally Chalk who will be running several marathons over the next three years to help raise funds. The next one is on 6th March 2010 in Barcelona with all proceeds going towards the cost of sending a team to the next Deaflympics.
Clarion will offer UKDS business support and help at fundraising events. Clarion will also be generously donating a percentage of their direct booking fees to the UKDS Deaflympics fund.
Clarion commented:
“Working with UK Deaf Sport and supporting the Deaflympics means that we can continue to build long lasting relationships with the Deaf Community and really give something back.“It is Clarion’s goal to help ensure that another great team GB attends the Deaflympics in Athens in 2013.”
Philip Gerrard, UKDS Chair welcomed the news:
“UK Deaf Sport is thrilled to be working with such a progressive organisation like Clarion.  Interpreting support is crucial to running a successful Deaf operation and we are glad that Clarion will be giving us the benefit of their expertise for Athens 2013.“We are also extremely  grateful for their kind gesture in donating a percentage of their direct booking fees.“Lastly, we at UKDS would like to give Sally Chalk all our good wishes and encouragement for her marathon run in Barcelona next month.”
