The NDCS is recruiting for a Swimming Development Officer to coordinate and deliver the Deaf-Friendly Swimming Project.
The Deaf-Friendly Swimming Project is a new, three year, Sport England funded programme which will break down the barriers deaf young people aged 14-25 face to participate in swimming and aquatic activities, including; Learn to Swim programmes, swimming clubs, recreational swimming and competitive swimming.
The Officer will be responsible to ensure the programme aims, objectives and key targets are met during the 3-year project lifespan. They will work closely with the Deaf-Friendly Swimming advisory group, ensuring full participation of key partners and individuals shapes the work of the Deaf-Friendly Swimming Project.
You will be responsible for developing effective working partnerships with key national leads, including the ASA, GB Deaf Swimming and UK Deaf Sport. You will also be required to establish effective partnerships with regional and local swimming providers and organisations working with deaf young people.
You will coordinate a programme of coach education for hearing and deaf swim teachers and coaches. Your network of swimming providers will deliver sustainable swimming provision inclusive of deaf young people and you will deliver additional competitive opportunities to link grassroots participation to existing pathways for competitive deaf swimmers.
The successful applicant will have experience of managing projects, working to fixed targets and deadlines. They will have experience and knowledge of successful sports development programmes and of delivering activities and events for children and young people, preferably including deaf young people.
The Swimming Development Officer will be a good communicator and have strong interpersonal skills. Able to form strong working relationships, lead training and deliver key presentations.
Finally, you will have strong administration skills, experience of managing budgets and the ability to ensure outcomes are met, monitored and successfully evaluated.
