UK Deaf Sport Executive Chair, Piers Martin would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Here are a few of our favourite highlights from 2017:
This year, we secured three years of funding from Sport England to continue the good work we’re doing to raise participation levels of deaf people in sport and physical activity across the UK. We’ve had a great year working in new areas and look forward to continuing this work with our partners in 2018.
DeaflympicsGB team celebrated a successful campaign at the 23rd Summer Deaflympics in Samsun, Turkey. The team won a total of nine medals (three gold, one silver and five bronze), smashing their pre-Games target of five.

In October, the DeaflympicsGB team enjoyed at reception at the House of Lords, hosted by Dawn Butler MP, Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities. The evening recognised and celebrated the team’s success at the Summer Deaflympics 2017. Read more about the celebration event.Â
In November, UK Deaf Sport hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Stifel Offices in London. The AGM was well attended by members, athletes and coaches from a wide range of sports. More information and AGM minutes.
