Latest Update from 43th ICSD Congress in Rome; our GBR Delegates, Philip Gerrard (Chair) & Sharon Hirshman (Trustee) informed UK Deaf Sport that: –
1. 2013 Summer Deaflympics: Hungary expressed interest and will pursue further. Final decision will be expected in November/December 2011. It was mentioned that the event could go ahead with minimum number of sports. At the time of this latest news, no further information was revealed which sport will be used.
2. 2017 Summer Deaflympics: Three candidates; Buenos Aires (Argentina), Ankara (Turkey) & Barcelona (Spain) gave presentation and votes revealed that Ankara will host the 2017 Summer Deaflympics.
3. UK Deaf Sport has submitted 2 proposals (Signature comparison & enabling Home Countries take part in World Championships in Team Sport) in the Congress. We are pleased to announce that both proposals have been approved.
UK Deaf Sport wish to congratulate Ankara for the 2017’s Summer Deaflympics and remain hopeful that Hungary could progress with the 2013 Summer Deaflympics. UK Deaf Sport also would like to congratulate our British people involved in producing 2 proposals which were approved. Well done!
