The 18th Winter Deaflympics will take place in Russia

Yesterday, meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on the organization of the international sports competitions in the territory of the Russian Federation under the chair of the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Mr. Dmitry Kozak took place on January 14, 2014.

The question “About Promotion of the Candidate of Khanty-Mansiysk on host of 18th Winter Deaflympics 2015” was one of points of the Agenda of meeting. Dr. Valery Rukhledev, the ICSD President and the Russian Committee of Deaf Sports Honourable President and Mrs. Natalia Komarova, the Governor of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area-Yugra were made presentations.

Members of the Commission approved the next 18th Winter Deaflympics in the Russian Federation.

Games will take place from February 27 to March 7, 2015 on sporting venues of

Khanty-Mansiysk on five winter sports: cross-country skiing, snowboard, curling, alpine skiing and ice hockey.

Next week after obtaining the document from the Government of Russia, the Russian Committee of Deaf Sports will send a package of supporting documents to the ICSD for the final statement and further work.
