UKDS Fundraising Update: May 2010

Sport England has recently been working with English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) to restructure the organisation and the sporting structure in England to make sport more accessible to disabled people.
The EFDS now has a new CEO and management team.
Sport England want National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of sport to be more inclusive to Disabled people.
On 14th April 2010, UK Deaf Sport and other National Disability Sport Organisations (NDSOs) attended a briefing where we were all invited to apply for funding to help mainstream sport.
UK Deaf Sport has completed a bid for a share of the £2 million that was available. This is to enable us to offer expert Deaf-related advice to mainstream sport.
We know that many National Deaf Sports Organisations have been working hard with their respective NGBs – if we are successful we will be able to work with these organisations and NGBs to improve things within mainstream sport.
We expect to hear the result of our funding bid sometime in June.  Information will be available on this website shortly afterwards.
