UKDS seeks Independent Directors

UK Deaf Sport (UKDS) is looking for Independent Non-Executive Directors to join its Board of Directors.

UKDS is the National Disability Sports Organisation for deaf sport in the UK. Our vision is “Every deaf person active and inspired by sport”. We aim to achieve this vision by leading opportunities for deaf people to participate in sport and physical activity throughout their lives and for deaf athletes to win medals on the world stage.

UKDS has made significant step changes in its leadership, governance and strategic direction over the last couple of years and looks to bring in experienced directors to help guide the organisation over the next period. We receive funding from Sport England to increase participation and govern the DeaflympicsGB Team that competes in the Deaflympics.

Whilst your skills and experience as an overall Director from the private/charity/public sectors are more important, we are specifically looking for expertise in the following areas:

Commercial, governance, legal, financial, marketing communications, participation, health, and performance.

To apply please send a CV and brief covering letter, highlighting your motivation for applying and experience relevant to the role, to participation@ukds.org.uk marked ‘Independent Director’ in the subject line of the email.

The role is voluntary with reasonable expenses paid.

The closing date for applications is the Friday 13 April 2018.

For an informal conversation about the role, please contact Piers Martin, UKDS Chair, on: chair@ukds.org.uk

UKDS places great emphasis on the diversity and representativeness of its leadership and as such specifically welcomes applications from the deaf community, women and minority groups.
