UKDS Supporting Deaf Women & Girls in Sport

UK Deaf Sport is very excited to be one of the 16 projects supported by National Lottery Fundingthrough Sport England.

All 16 projects will be aimed at engaging women and/or Black, Asian or minority ethnic communities in coaching, volunteering.

This funding is the first real opportunity UK Deaf Sport has had to focus specifically on creating more opportunities for deaf girls and women to lead and volunteer within their local sporting activities and opportunities.

Over the next two years we will engage with a wide range of deaf groups and organisations including Deaf women community groups to ensure that the project continually supports deaf girls and women in the right way possible. Through this project we want to understand the barriers faced, increase the number of meaningful and sustainable sporting opportunities whilst also creating more leadership opportunities for deaf girls and women within the sport sector.

Really exciting times ahead!

Our next steps will be to recruit a project officer to lead on this so watch this space. If you have any questions about this project, please contact us at info@ukds.org.uk
