It costs £500,000 to get the DeaflympicsGB Team to the Deaflympics and they receive no funding from the UK Government.

Athletes and teams need to pay for training, support teams, accommodation, kit, flights, insurance, pre-event camps and competitions and support teams such as physios and team Dr’s.

We need your help to get the DeaflympicsGB Team to the games and give these elite athletes their best possible chance of winning medals for our country.

You can help by donating directly, fundraising or sponsoring part of the team costs.

GB Deaf Swimming Club

I got involved with Deaf Swimming in 1984. The following year I was selected for my first Deaflympics in USA (LA) and managed to win 2 silvers and a bronze medal. This was the start of my International swimming career. The next Deaflympics in New Zealand (Christchurch) saw me bring home 5 Golds and a bronze medal along with 2 Deaflympic and World records. My third Deaflympics was in Bulgaria (Sofia) where I brought home a Gold, Silver and Bronze medal as well as a Deaflympic and World record. From my Deaflympic career, I brought home 12 Medals and many different positions in the Finals. I also competed at multiple friendlies and European Championships over the years.

After retiring from swimming, I took up Teaching and coaching of swimming and obtained my Teacher and Coaching qualifications. I am now Head Coach for GB Deaf Swimming Club hoping to inspire many young swimmers to follow in my footsteps to a successful swimming and coaching career.
