See My Voice Young Leader Application Form 2021

We are looking for young people to join a year- long scheme, called ‘See My Voice’. Starting November 2021 ‘See My Voice’ is a sports leadership volunteer programme for Deaf and hard of hearing young people (aged 14-19). The project helps Young Leaders gain confidence and develop life skills, which will inevitably boost their self-esteem and improve their employment prospects. It also allows them to meet new people and become involved in their communities. It’s a great opportunity to gain experience, make new friends, network with sports organisations and create memories that will last a lifetime! Our Young Leaders also get to attend a FREE Residential.

UK Deaf Sport See My Voice (SMV) programme are looking to support deaf young people (aged 14-19) to develop leadership skills and achieve a SLUK Level 2 Qualification in Sport and Activity Volunteering!

The award for Introducing Sport & Activity Volunteering and the Level 2 Award for Sport & Activity Volunteering will involve 5 tasks, that needs to be completed within 12 months of the programme, all aiming to test the Young Leaders knowledge on leadership skills, volunteering and ensuring the Young Leaders gain experience alongside this. 

The tasks included in the qualification so far are as follows: 

Task 1 – Volunteering Roles, Responsibilities and Associated Skills and Behaviours 

Task 2 – Setting the Foundations for the Case Study 

Task 3 – Your Personal Development Plan 

Task 4 – Applying Leadership Skills and Behaviours 

Task 5 – Applying Leadership Skills and Behaviours in a Volunteering Role

It is a year long scheme. Young leaders will have to attend webinars and the residential to gain the qualification. During the residential, the Young Leaders will have a 15 minute session to lead in groups where they will be assessed on their leadership based on the skills they have learnt over the space of the 12 month qualification. 

The residential are going to be run over the course of 3 days and the accommodation will be provided at free of charge.

At the residential, we have.

  • A Tennis coach confirmed.
  • A Football coach confirmed.
  • A Blind Baseball Coach confirmed.
  • A Goalball Coach confirmed.
  • A Team Kinetic Workshop.
  • A Step Model workshop (although part of the qualification this will include creating your own session and learning how to lead!)
  • A Sitting Volleyball Coach confirmed.
  • Your very own Sports Festival Day where you will deliver to all attending residential!!

The residential dates are 22nd Feb-24th Feb 2022 and 12th-14th April 2022.
