Thank you to all our members, supporters, staff and board directors who joined our in-person Annual General Meeting on Saturday 25 November 2023.

It was wonderful to see you all in person to share news, catch up and discuss some issues that matter to us all including our Fair Play for Deaf Athletes Campaign.

It was also an opportunity to thank those board members who are stepping down this year.

Piers Martin, Chair of UK Deaf Sport – Piers has served the UKDS Board for over 9 years and we thank him for all his dedication, support and leadership over his tenure.

We also wish to thank Graeme Knight, Grant Downie, and Adam Breeze all of whom step down from the board this year. We thank you all for your passion, expertise, and support.

Additionally, thank you to Jo Hitchings, our volunteer Minute Taker who has supported all of our board meetings over the past 7 years.

New Chair of the Board

At the AGM it was also our pleasure to welcome formally Nick Brookes as the new Chair of the UK Deaf Sport Board.

Nick brings with him a wealth of experience in deaf sport having been Deputy Chef de Mission in 2005 and Chair of the British Deaf Tennis Association. Nick is also chartered accountant and qualified treasurer with over 30 years international business experience. Watch Nick Brookes’ welcome video here.
