UK Deaf Sport is delighted to announce the appointment Freddie Ungoed-Courtney to the Board of Directors.
UK Deaf Sport Chairman Nick Brookes said “I am delighted that Freddie is joining the Board. He will bring valuable new and relevant skills and perspectives”
Of his appointment to the board, Freddie says “I am delighted to be joining UK Deaf Sport. From a young age, I have always enjoyed playing sport and it is a huge part of my identity. Being deaf, I have been fortunate to have had a supportive network in place to play sport, made possible by organisations such as UK Deaf Sport. I am therefore really looking forward to playing a role in shaping deaf participation in sport. “
Freddie is an experienced solicitor with a broad practice across both private and public sectors in a number of industries including finance, shipping, property and general commerce. He previously worked for top tier city law firms advising a global network of clients on high value transactions and commercial disputes. He now advises as inhouse legal counsel for a local authority on the housing development and asset management sector. Freddie brings a wealth of knowledge in handling legal issues, public sector governance and commercial operations.
Freddie has been deaf all his life and has had a cochlear implant for over 25 years. From a young age, Freddie has always enjoyed playing sport with a particular interest in hockey, having played at international and national league level. He continues to remain active and loves to test his endurance, often embarking on long range cycling trips in Europe. He recently completed an Ironman triathlon in France and his latest challenge is to beat his marathon pb at the Brighton Marathon in 2025.
Freddie and other board members will be attending the UK Deaf Sport AGM in London on Saturday 16 November 2024. Details to follow soon.
