Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics – Day 5 Round Up

Today we’re bringing you all the action from Day 5 for the DeaflympicsGB Team. We had competitors taking part in athletics, golf and shooting. Let’s see how they got on…

Athletics

Evie Smith faced a strong field in the 1500m final, coming in 13th. But it was the 10,000m final which caused a stir yesterday. We didn’t have a GB athlete competing but we were there to watch and see 5 of the finalists get disqualified. Sadly they hadn’t complied with the rules regarding the thickness of their show soles. The maximum thickness allowed is 20mm and all five of the disqualified athletes were found to be wearing shoes which exceeded that.

Shooting

There was disappointment too for Paul Foreman in the 50m shooting. Paul shot well but finished 14th in the qualifiying rounds. Only the top 8 go through to the quarter-final, so that was the end of Paul’s first Deaflympic campaign. We’re sure he’ll be back to compete again in further Deaflympics though.

Golf

In the second round of golf the GB Team all played strong rounds with the team in the following positions going into round 3:
  • Karen Ellam 16th
  • Lydia Ingman 8th
  • Robbie Bowie-Cameron 22nd
  • Aiden Silman 10th
  • Paul Waring 5th
Round 3 is coming up on Day 6 and we can’t wait!

What’s coming up…
