Phil brings over 20 years of coaching experience across sport, with the past seven years spent in Further Education as Head of Rugby, where he supported athletes from grassroots level through to elite performers competing at the highest level. He is passionate about developing inclusive pathways that enable athletes of all abilities to fulfil their potential. Since 2021, Phil has been Director of Rugby for England Deaf Rugby Union, overseeing both the men’s and women’s squads. Under his leadership, the teams have toured internationally to Argentina and South Africa, helping to showcase and grow the sport on a global stage.
Alongside his rugby work, Phil has contributed to the development of county and national swimmers and successfully established a disability swimming squad within a local club. He is currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Sports Coaching, with research focused on the transition from youth to senior sport.
As UKDS Talent Pathway Manager, Phil is dedicated to creating opportunities for athletes to compete and thrive on the international stage, ensuring that every individual has the chance to represent their sport at the highest level.
